The renowned New York City leg of the Tribeca Film Festival is set to bolster this year’s cinematic line-up with talks on some old classics, including Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
Aside from having that awful time-bending effect of making you feel ten years older than you thought you were, the charms of his classic piece of Manhattan whimsy returning is a much-welcomed proposition.
The film was an almost decadent display of heart, humour and eccentricity, firmly establishing the style for which Wes Anderson is now synonymous when it was released back in the December of 2001.
Now, at the Robert De Niro co-founded movie festival, Anderson is set to pair up with stars Alec Baldwin, Gwyneth Paltrow, Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson, Anjelica Huston, and Danny Glover. The team of bandied together stars will discuss the making of the film, its legacy and share thrills and spills before an adoring audience of the movie returning press and public alike.
The event is set to run for 12 days from June 9th – 20th. With the highly anticipated In the Heights opening the festival with a specific date for the Royal Tenenbaums reunion yet to be announced.
You can catch a trailer for Wes Andersons movie which came with the official tagline of: “Royal Tenenbaum and his wife Etheline had three children and then they separated. All three children are extraordinary — all geniuses. Virtually all memory of the brilliance of the young Tenenbaums was subsequently erased by two decades of betrayal, failure, and disaster. Most of this was generally considered to be their father’s fault. “The Royal Tenenbaums” is the story of the family’s sudden, unexpected reunion one recent winter.”
